How does immigration affect taxes in the US?

This question can be answered many ways, depending on the philosophy of your political ideology. To some, immigration is a real big problem. For others, it isn't that big of a deal in terms of taxes. Immigration affects the economy in good ways and in bad ways. A good way in which immigration affects taxes is that they still pay taxes like citizens do, mostly. Many immigrants, when not full on citizens, apply for an Individual Tax Identification Numbers (ITIN) in order to be legally employed. This allows them to pay taxes as a person living in the United States. A bad way in which immigration affects taxes is that not all immigrants pay taxes, as they avoid them some way or another. Most immigrants also live off of social programs like welfare and pay little tax, so they live off of taxpayer funds which could be going towards other places.
