What does a tax attorney do?

Sometimes taxes can be a bit overwhelming for some people. Others are able to gleefully file and pay their taxes without much of a hassle. For those that need help, they often need the assistance of one or several tax experts. These experts can be tax accountants and/or tax attorneys. A tax attorney is a type of lawyer who specializes in providing help for people who struggle with the IRS with collections, spouse relief, tax levies, tax debt relief, and other various tax-related issues. They are merely there as a helping hand to make sure your tax questions are answered, and that everything you are doing is correct and legal. They can even potentially find misconceptions in your taxes that can either help you, or even hurt you financially. These duties can also be performed by a tax accountant; however, an accountant cannot represent you in court if you file a civil suit that is tax related.
